This week in Mrs Chandler’s class we discussed The Willow Tree Philosophy 4 Children text ‘The Noisy Paint Box’.

Philosophy 4 Children is an enquiry based learning approach which offers a way to open up children’s learning through enquiry and the exploration of ideas. Children learn that their ideas have value, and that the ideas of other children have value too. Through Philosophy for Children they realise that they don’t always have to be right, but they gain the confidence to ask questions and learn through discussion.

After discussing the text, the main character and key events in the story, the children worked in pairs to generate their own questions.

The question we decided upon was: ‘Do we always have to paint the same thing in the same way?’

So what do you think?
